Diabetics and Chiropractors Are a Good Fit

Written By: Jones - Jan• 04•17

I was diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago when I was 30 years old. I knew that I had only myself to blame, because I did not eat healthy and I hardly ever got exercise. I was just too busy, and it was easier to eat on the run. When my doctor diagnosed me though, that opened up my eyes. He told me that I could reverse this easily, but it would take effort on my part. He also wanted me to see a chiropractor in Redding who has experience in dealing with diabetic patients.

I had no idea how a chiropractor was going to help me with my diabetes, but I quickly learned. The body is made up of so many different things between the skeleton, muscles, the nervous system, the organs, blood and much more. And, all of that is connected in one way or another to the spine. For instance, the pancreas, which is intended to produce insulin in people, communicates with the nervous system, which is why a chiropractor can help someone who has diabetes. Nerve damage can be a factor later on, and that can be dealt with as well.

For me though, my doctor wanted me to see a chiropractor so I could start having regular adjustments. He assured me that this was one of the best things I could do to maintain that communication between my pancreas and my nervous system. After he explained everything to me, it made perfect sense to me, and I was completely on board with this. I contacted the chiropractor he suggested, and I have been going to him ever since. The best part is that i am no longer on diabetes medication, my blood sugars are near perfect, and I have more energy than I had even ten years ago!
